Our scrapbook notes about Sofia

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, but not exactly Bulgaria's most visited or touristy of spots. Sofia is good if you like museums, odd churches and gardens, which said in a more pessimistic way means that there isn't actually that much to do in this city. However, it is Bulgaria's biggest city, and is walkable to get around. You can enjoy cheap cafes, cheap accommodation and overall really cheap alcohol on rooftop terraces and chic bars. Sofia tends to act as a 'chill' city or as a stop off if you're heading to Bulgaria's coast on the black sea, or further afield European cities. Not too much for a backpacker to do but a pretty city which is worth a few days visit for cheap dining and cheap drinks in a warm climate.
