Our scrapbook notes about Osaka

Osaka is one of the main cities in Japan, and a must see if backpacking through the country. Osaka has its pop culture sites such as Universal studios and a former 'World's Biggest' aquarium. However, this doesn't mean to say that the city is still not full of Japanese culture and tradition. Osaka is known for it's traditional Japanese cuisine and it's friendly citizens. The city is also second to Tokyo in terms of 'urban' environment  Expect backstreets of neon lights, endless flashing signs and pinball machines, which you may recognise from the sets of 'Bladerunner'. Osaka is a good city to backpack in as it has plenty to offer, but it can be very touristy so always good to explore nearby towns and villages off the beaten track.
