Hong Kong

Our scrapbook notes about Hong Kong

Hong Kong is the first Special Administrative Region of China, with only one other being Macau. Therefore you can call Hong Kong a city in a sense. Hong Kong is a major tourist destination and a great transport hub. It is a little more expensive than its South East Asian neighbours, but it is a great city to spend a few days before touring further places in Asia. Hong Kong has a great mix of East meets West as it is a commercial and cosmopolitan city, but has the Eastern influence and charm with smaller more remote islands nearby and many temples and shrines. There is a fair bit of British influence in the city due to being a colony for over 150 years. Overall this city has great nightlife and a large expat community, a must visit on any backpackers list.
