Our scrapbook notes about Arashiyama

Arashiyama is on the Western outskirts of Kyoto, but very easy to get to from the centre. The town is well known for the bamboo forest, which can be a 'must-see' if visiting the Kyoto/Kansai region. The town also has Iwatayama Monkey Park, which is fair trek up a hillside but worth it in the end. There are a variety of water sports in the area, such as white water rafting, as the town is divided by an impressive river. Other good sights include a few temples, a few shrines and some delicious noodle restaurants along the river. Worth at least half a day of your time if in Kyoto.
